PS5 vs Custom Gaming PC — which makes sense in 2026?
Every week someone walks into the shop asking this exact question. They've got ₹60k–₹1.5L to spend, they want to play the new games, and they can't tell if ₹54,990 on a PS5 or ₹1.3 lakh on a custom rig is the smarter move. Here's the honest version we give them at the counter.
The quick answer
If you just want to play AAA games on a TV and don't care about anything else, the PS5 wins on every metric that matters — price, ease, exclusives like Spider-Man 2 and God of War Ragnarök. If you also want to study, work, stream, mod games, or upgrade piece-by-piece, a custom PC wins. That's the whole article, but read on for the actual trade-offs.
Price: it's not as close as you think
A PS5 Slim Disc is ₹54,990. Add a second controller (₹5,990), a year of PS Plus (₹4,990), and you're at about ₹66,000 ready to play. You already have a TV.
A custom PC that actually beats the PS5 in performance starts at ₹1.05–1.30 lakh once you add a 1440p monitor, keyboard, mouse and headset. The gap is ₹50,000+ before you've bought a single game.
If your budget is ₹70,000 or below and gaming is the whole point, get the PS5. A cheap PC at that price will disappoint you.

If you're a student
Get the PC. You'll use it for projects, coding, video editing, and it'll last 5–6 years with a single GPU upgrade. The PS5 becomes an expensive paperweight once college assignments start piling up.
If you already own a laptop
Get the PS5. You've got the productivity side covered. The PS5 gives you couch gaming on the TV — a totally different experience from laptop gaming.

Come see both in the shop
Both sit on our counter at Halar Road. Play 15 minutes on the PS5, 15 minutes on our demo PC, then decide. That's still the best way to figure it out.
